Enjoying the Beauty of Spring

Feeling happy, full of energy and enthusiasm.

‘Full of the joys of spring’ is an expression that refers to the natural, seasonal cycle. In spring we get warmer, lighter days and usually have more energy. It’s the season where plants and animals come alive after the long, cold winter – a time for birth and renewal. Many of us plan to sort out our lives and homes, hence the expression ‘spring cleaning’. Cleaning is necessary but I’d rather be out exploring and ejoying our beautiful world.

1.  Enjoy the Beauty of Nature:
Watch birds, most nests are visible in still bare trees. Stop and enjoy the flock of birds in flight together. Look for the colorful Butterflies.  http://www.butterflywebsite.com

2. Read and Write Poetry:
This is the time to grab your books and writing tools and hit the outdoors. Go sit in the backyard, go to the park, beach, or hike to that quiet place of beauty.

3. Learn About Easter:
Easter is the celebration of Christ’s resurrection from the dead. It is celebrated on Sunday, and marks the end of Holy Week, the end of Lent, the last day of the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday), and is the beginning of the Easter season of the liturgical year.  Read more… http://www.catholic.org/lent/easter.php

4. Investigate Your Environment:
Where can you find a patch of nature to observe? How might you document the season as it unfolds? Find some new places to visit this spring, there are plenty of apps or online sites to help you locate fun stuff to do in your area.

5. Get out a play:
I enjoy tossing around a frisbee it takes some skill to throw one of these. Learn a new skill (sport or exercise) to get you out there engaged in life.

6. Make Spring Food:
Eat locally, so that your food is seasonal. See what you can do to get most of your food from a 50-mile radius or your local outdoor markets coming soon with the warm weather.

7. Fly a Kite:
There’s only so many days in the year this is possible. I dare you to bring out your inner child and bring back those childhood memories or create new ones. It’s a feeling of great accomplishment to get them in the sky.

8. The Sweetest Scent of Flowers:
Wow… Talk about your senses coming to life during this time of year along with the intoxicating beauty of each flower.

9. Night Walks or Hiking:
I enjoy this time of year when I can walk in the warmth of the night and appreciate the beauty of the night sky and air. Also, walking and saying my night prayers is extremely peaceful.

10. Visitors for BBQ’s:
Already went to my first birthday BBQ and visit with friends, start inviting your family and friends now.

11. Fishing:
A quiet day by the water or on a boat is a peaceful time to reflect, bond with someone, and relax. I’m getting my tackle box together and finding the perfect fishing holes in my area soon, it’s a little too chilly here in Northern CA for me yet.

12. Camping:
Go camping with family and friends is always good times. Sunrises and sunsets are beautiful, swimming, BBQ, campfire songs, smores, sounds of nature, and much more. Depending on where you live the summer might be too hot for camping without a constant layer of stickiness and if it’s still too chilly where you live, put a date on the calendar for the better weather days.
